The Making A-G Real Multimedia Award is a scholarship fund designed and co-managed by the Oakland Unified School District’s All City Council Student Union and the Marcus Foster Education Institute to bring attention to the All City Council’s Making A-G Real Campaign to redefine the high school “prerequisites” for college going to better reflect what students say they need to succeed in their education. The campaign focuses on a new set of “A-G’s” or essential student needs in education that fall within three pillars: 1) Safety, Culture and Climate; 2) Quality Teachers and Teaching; and 3) Student Supports.
Applicants to this scholarship must submit a video, audio work or other written or visual work that showcases their vision for the kind of education and supports they would like to see as it is connected to one of the pillars of the campaign. To bring their work to a community platform, applicants’ work is showcased on the MFEI site and goes live for community voting! Your vote plus a review from the All City Council’s governing board selects the new Making A-G Real Multimedia Award Scholars.
Annual support for the scholarship comes through MFEI's general scholarship fund. To donate to support the Making A-G Real Multimedia Scholarship fund, visit www.marcusfoster.org/donate.
